Philosophy

Therapy is a journey of self discovery...

As a Marriage and Family therapist, I work with individuals, couples and families in a variety of ways. My philosophy of counseling integrates a psychodynamic approach with components of cognitive behavioral therapy. I am certified in addressing trauma through the evidence based practice of Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

 

As we work together, our focus will be on your goals for therapy. We’ll work to uncover and address unhelpful ways of thinking, explore events from your past that still impact you today, and make changes that move you closer to being the person you desire to be.  Therapy involves a commitment of time and energy, choosing the right therapist for you is an important first step. I encourage you to ask questions about my philosophy and techniques throughout our work together.
